THE HOURS - 2014 My Year in Review

December has brought our year long project of The Hours 2014 to an end.
Over the last year I have participated with over 30 other photographers at taking a photo each month at a specific hour. We started in January at 7:00am then moved to February at 8:00am and so forth until we reached our final post of the year which was this month at 6:00pm.

I decided to take a look back at all of my submissions (above) for The Hours to see if there were any common threads. Here is what I found.

 color. nature. words.

Looking back at the collection it does make me smile (which is part of my 8:00am hour). I managed to shoot a "hello" and a "bye". I noticed there were several pops of pink - on flowers, on words, on shirts, in bubbles and pink yarn. I started the 7:00am hour at home and ended the 6:00pm hour back at home.

This project made me really take notice of the light, one of my favorites was the 4:00 o'clock hour while the sun was dipping behind the backyard trees but still shining enough to light the face of a bubble blowing boy.

While we only took one photo a month each of my photos brings back memories of the year. I see vacations, holidays and the start of a new hobby.

My favorite part of the project was waking up every Sunday morning and taking a look at the new photos posted for the week. If you haven't seen The Hours site you should! There are so many amazing images from such talented photographers. It's interesting to see what each of us were looking at during the same hour from around the globe  Viewing the project as a whole we really created something amazing. I'm hoping someone will sponsor us and publish a book! Or better yet, buy us all plane tickets for one big meet up! How fantastic that would be?!

I was honored to take part in this project. Below is a closer look at my 2014 submissions.

THE HOURS - 2014 5:00PM

My 5:00 o'clock photo was taken while I was at a workshop held by the amazingly talented Maryanne Moodie. I have admired her work for such a long time, and when she said she was coming to the west coast I jumped at the opportunity to take her weaving workshop.

FAVE 5 ON 5 - 2014 SEPTEMBER

Another round of our favorite five on five! Continue the circle by clicking on Alison's link at the end of this post.

The transition from Summer to Fall has not been easy. Summer is over, school routines have started again and it's time to get back to business. Shorts will soon be packed away and coats will be soon be dusted off. Greens will soon be replaced by browns and reds.
Looking back over the last month my photo pickings were slim and the inspiration just wasn't there. I blame the in betweens of the seasons.
I'll miss summer but am ready for Fall. So let's get it started Fall, I can't wait to see what this next season brings.

My Favorite 5 photos:
1. Change is in the air (above).
2. I love this plant.
3. Back to school.
4. A quiet cup
5. Feeling Fall.

FAVE 5 ON 5 - 2014 AUGUST

This last month of summer vacation was all about being out and about. We roamed the city, went to a craft fair and took in a baseball game.

Here are my favorites in order:
1. What you find at the craft fair. (above)
2. What you see while waiting at the stop light.
3. I will cut you.
4. In the car, in motion, knew this street was coming up quick and snapped a hopeful shot.
5. Oakland A's for the win! I'd also like to mention that while at this game we, along with the rest of the stadium, did the wave, unprovoked, a total of 4 times in a row. fun!

(Remember to see what the others in the blog circle chose as their five favorites of August by clicking at the link at the bottom of this post.)

THE HOURS - 2014 2:00PM

2:00 found me in the backyard. The berries were about ready to be picked. A bird friend joined me. He came to either keep me company or to keep an eye on what he thought were His berries.
