Over the last year I have participated with over 30 other photographers at taking a photo each month at a specific hour. We started in January at 7:00am then moved to February at 8:00am and so forth until we reached our final post of the year which was this month at 6:00pm.
I decided to take a look back at all of my submissions (above) for The Hours to see if there were any common threads. Here is what I found.
color. nature. words.
Looking back at the collection it does make me smile (which is part of my 8:00am hour). I managed to shoot a "hello" and a "bye". I noticed there were several pops of pink - on flowers, on words, on shirts, in bubbles and pink yarn. I started the 7:00am hour at home and ended the 6:00pm hour back at home.
This project made me really take notice of the light, one of my favorites was the 4:00 o'clock hour while the sun was dipping behind the backyard trees but still shining enough to light the face of a bubble blowing boy.
While we only took one photo a month each of my photos brings back memories of the year. I see vacations, holidays and the start of a new hobby.
My favorite part of the project was waking up every Sunday morning and taking a look at the new photos posted for the week. If you haven't seen The Hours site you should! There are so many amazing images from such talented photographers. It's interesting to see what each of us were looking at during the same hour from around the globe Viewing the project as a whole we really created something amazing. I'm hoping someone will sponsor us and publish a book! Or better yet, buy us all plane tickets for one big meet up! How fantastic that would be?!
I was honored to take part in this project. Below is a closer look at my 2014 submissions.
