Fave 5 on 5 - 2014 February

Raise your hand if you felt that February just flew by.
As I was reminded that the Favorite 5 on 5 time was here again I had a moment of panic. Do I even have 5 favorites? Did I take any photos this month? How could this month already be over?!
Luckily I did take photos, however this month there were no big adventures and all of my photos were taken locally.  "Locally" as in taken either at home or at school, all within a 3 mile radius.

Below is a description of each of my photos, in order of appearance. Remember to keep the photo circle going by clicking on the next photographer's (Alison) link at the end of this post.

In order:
1. Fence light (above). I loved the light coming in from the fence and I love how this can only be seen at a certain time of day, for a limited amount of time and only with the right weather.
2. Happy plant. This is the plant that sits on my dining room table. It needs to be repotted. The stick is there to keep it upright until the repotting happens. The smiley face is there to encourage me to do this.
3. Rain. Finally it rained. This is to mark that moment. This viewpoint is coming from the dining table that the plant is sitting on in number 2 above. The fence behind the flower is the same fence seen in number 1 above.
These are the facts, just reporting the facts.
4. Play Ball. I was looking for the color "purple" and asked if he would let me take a picture with him and the ball. The answer was "yes" but only under this condition.
5. Pink. I was looking for pink (it's color week(s) don't you know) and found this set at the library.

The Hours 2014 - 8:00am

February welcomed the 8 o'clock morning hour.
At 8:00am I'm just starting to feel like I'm kinda sorta awake.
Kudos to Cheerios for the back of their box this month.  With all of the real estate they have on the back of their box they decided to keep it simple, leave lots of negative space to breathe in, and just placed on it a simple message.
SMILE.
Couldn't we all use this reminder first thing? A tabletop billboard of yellow sunshine with the word SMILE?

Below is my contribution to the 8:00am hour.

This month I'm enjoying this box. A simple yellow box that puts me in a good mood even when I'm wishing I was still in bed.

Fav 5 on 5 - 2014 January

It's time to pick my favorite 5 photos that I took for the month of January.
And I'm not the only one choosing their favorites on the 5th. Follow the blog circle by clicking on the link at the end of this post to see what other favorites were picked. Alison is up next!

In order:
1. A trip to the beach in January can be magical. Only in California.
2. Color week started and I joined in with this tribute to red.
3. Seeing reflections. Trees growing down instead of up.
4. What 7:00am looks like. For The Hours project, follow along.
5. Took this photo with my iPhone in literally 5 seconds, ran in and out, and it's one of my favorite finds. happy trails!

The Hours 2014 - 7:00am

I'm so excited to announce a new photography project that I'll be working on this year. It is called The Hours.

I'll be spending my time this year collaborating with a group of about 30 photographers who are all from around the globe. We will each be documenting a specific hour each month throughout the year.

For the month of January we're starting with the early 7 o'clock hour.

I'm usually not shooting this early. At this time of day the alarm is going off and I'm slowly getting to all that needs to get done before work and school.

View The Hours entire collection of 7:00am hours:  http://thehours.org/2014/01/12/7am-4/

I'm so excited to see where this journey takes us all. I'm secretly hoping that a huge corporation will see our work and sponsor all of us so that we can go on a long epic photowalk together. Can you imagine what kind of lovely photos would come out of that meeting?

I invite you to join along and follow The Hours throughout the year.

Fave 5 on 5 - December 2013

Oh December, you were the busiest month of all!

Here is the last round of our Favorite 5 on the 5th for 2013.  Be sure to swoop around to see each of the photographers' picks by clicking on the next photographer's link (Alison!) at the end of this post.

My photos for this month include a magical holiday train ride, sunny city views, a little love and a baking shot because there was LOTS of baking this month.

And an extra 6th one because we all need a little blurry Christmas lights each year.

That wraps it up for 2013. Hope you had a great new year, looking forward to seeing what 2014 brings!

Keep the fav 5 on 5 circle going by moving on to see what Alison was up to during the holiday season.

365 - 2013

How good it feels to finally put the number 365 on the last photo of the year!

So here it is, my 365 for 2013.
What a marathon.
Kudos to those of you who have been doing these for years and years in a row and are now on your 1095 straight photo of the day!

I completed my first 365 in 2011.   The difference between then and now is that I chose to do this round by using my iPhone. The challenge would be to take photos, as well as edit photos, only on my phone. The quality suffered a little bit but the moments, my moments, are all still there.

(psst. it's about 8:00 minutes long. two songs long really. just a kind heads up! enjoy.)

Thank you 2013!
Onward to 2014 where I will be taking a break from the 365, but will certainly be doing some sort of photo project. Stay tuned...

Fav 5 on 5 - November 2013

My 5 on 5 for this month brings lots of randomness.
>My picks include cooking, game night at grandma's, elevator waiting, shower views, fall leaves and one of my favorite people.

{ On a complete sidenote, I can't believe it is already December?!
How did that happen? Where did this year go? }
Take a look at what caught my eye in November and then continue to the end of the post to follow the Fav 5 on 5 "blog circle". The next person up is Alison and she'll lead you to the next photographer who will lead you to the next one, and so on, until you end up back at me.  It's a fun ride, don't miss the link at the end of this post.

See? Kind of random. Especially that shower one. I liked the darkness and the pop of color from the fall leaves outside. It reminds me to try new places, new subjects and new light just to see what I might get. Not the most mind blowing photo but interesting to place into this November mix.

Thanks for following along.
Up next is my friend Alison.
